The Oscars!

Tonight I embarked on a new challenge– live-tweeting! I tried live-tweeting the Oscars, and boy was it a lot to take in. At first, it was pretty easy but then got progressively difficult. I scrolled on twitter for a little bit, saw some witty Twitter posts, got creative with my own, and watched the overall Live performance. Though, I should’ve been in a different environment, because my roommate had to interrupt my Oscars watching for a little bit to talk about her very bad night and how she needed help. Regardless, I helped her, and got back to the live-tweeting event.

How do people just sit around and think of so many witty comments, with so much going on?

How do people attend Oscar parties? You NEVER fully watch and engage with the event.

Anyways, the Oscars went well until the very end. I started guessing who would win on my twitter. I predicted right all of the times.

Really hope either A Star is Born or Blackkklansman for Adapted Screenplay #Oscars— ashley mcmillan (@ashleeybellee) February 25, 2019

I bet Yalitza Aparicio or Olivia Colman will win Best Female Leading Actress. #predisctions #oscars— ashley mcmillan (@ashleeybellee) February 25, 2019

Congrats @OliviaColmanTV with #TheFavourite! 😄 I WAS RIGHT. #Oscars #predictions https://t.co/9QjdSrL3zJ— ashley mcmillan (@ashleeybellee) February 25, 2019

The only one I couldn’t guess for was for Best Picture. Though, I did not think Greek Book would win Best Picture for 2019. I thought it was a rerun from last Oscars when The Shape of Water won over the more optimistic feature, Dunkirk. Personally, I thought ALL of the other choices, not Green Book, would have been deserving of Best Picture. That’s just my thoughts.

The Oscars can’t come to the phone right now, they’re broken. #oscars— ashley mcmillan (@ashleeybellee) February 25, 2019

My most popular tweet, with 5 retweets and 12 favorites:

this moment is SO PURE #Oscars https://t.co/TcZh4ez4gD— ashley mcmillan (@ashleeybellee) February 25, 2019

I am rather skeptical that The Academy’s twitter account used my tweet and copied it. They posted their tweet about that moment with my exact description of noting it “pure”–which is more of a young generational use of slang, but that’s just me.

Anyways, these are my thoughts about the Oscars. I hope you enjoyed my new challenge of the evening!
