CNU vs. Stevens: Men’s Lacrosse

To conclude this night, CNU loses to Steven’s. Steven’s was very happy to have won, especially since they came all the way down to here (Virginia) from New Jersey. CNU didn’t seem to stressed about the win, even though this is their home turf field. Overall, the two teams were a good fit for each other to fight. They balanced off who had streaks throughout the night. Peluso (#5) from Steven’s did great on his offense position by getting multiple takes at the goal.

8:55 = Game ends, Steven’s wins 14 : 9.

8:54 = Steven and CNU’s competitors go to the middle of the field again to fight over who gets the ball for the remaining seven seconds of play time. It is now 14 : 9.

8:37 = After going back and forth from goal to goal, CNU finally takes hold of the situation and scores. #34, Tyler Iriondo, does the final hit for CNU. It looks like Steven’s is getting tired. It is 12 : 8 now.

8:29 = At this point, it is now 12 : 7. CNU has been very competitive in response to Steven’s fierce competition. It is now almost fourth quarter.

8:11 = Steven’s makes another goal, so now it is 11 : 4.

8:02 = Each team does warm-up practices before the second-half starts.

7:55 = Steven’s is given the ball after the referees make a decision. Almost directly after, Steven’s #42, Ryan Gebhardt, makes a goal. It is now 10 : 4.

7:54 = Each team breaks, and those who are going to play go onto the field.

7:53 = Each team goes to their respected coaches to devise a plan. Referee’s as well discuss the game with each other.

7:45 = A few seconds after #10 gets the ball, he throws it to another teammate, #11, Will Stockhausen. Then to #12, #25, then back to #11, #25, and then to #6. In the midst of #6 throwing the ball to make the goal, two Steven’s guys maul him over on the field. He’s thrown four feet away from his original position. Though, Dylan Rice, aka #6, makes the goal. It is now 9 : 4.

7:44 = The two competitors take a while in the middle of the field to fight over the ball, to see who gets it. Steven’s gets the ball and quickly drops it, with CNU picking it up right after.

7: 43 = Then again, Steven’s makes another goal from #5 Peluso. It is now 9 : 3.

7: 42 = Quickly, before CNU got ahead of themselves, Steven’s makes another goal. It seemed personal this time around; they want to win. It is now 8 : 3 in the game.

7:39 = Switching goals, it could be possible CNU now has the advantage side to get a goal. I say this because at this moment, CNU finally got another goal after Steven’s made ruthless hits. Lucas Berry, CNU’s #31, stops Steven’s goal streak by getting in to kill. It is now 7 : 3 at this point.

7:24 = Steven’s has to clear from the back of the field. Offense yet again do a few more tricky maneuvers down by CNU’s goal. Steven’s #5, Dean Peluso, pushes himself towards the goal and makes a hit– making it now 4 : 2.

7:18 = Steven’s steal the ball from CNU as they try to make a goal. Steven’s offense runs down the field and play a tricky routine near the goal. Steven’s #50, Ryan Caplis, makes a goal. It is now 3 : 2.

7:16 = It is now 2 : 2 at this point of the game.

7:12 = Steven’s Dean Peluso #5, after being tricky with CNU’s defense near the net, he scores on them. It is now 2 : 1. I was right when I said earlier that Peluso would get a score early on.

7:10 = The fight was a little crazy to score onto Steven’s, but CNU scored on them regardless. It is now Steven’s 1 : CNU 1.

7:07 = After the score, the two competitors from each team come to the middle of the turf field to fight over the ball again. Steven’s #10, Nicholas Carnovale, grabs hold of it once again, but tumbles and falls. The ball flies out of his stick, but luckily another teammate got the ball.

7:06 = Dean Peluso,#5 from Stevens, tries to score, but misses by aiming too high. It’s noted that he is a fierce competitor. He will probably try his hardest to get a goal as quick as he can into the game. Though, Stevens gets the ball again; Steven’s #13 Max Bailey throws the ball to another teammate, Daniel Crotty #34. Crotty goes in for the kill and gets a score for Stevens. It is now Steven’s 0 : CNU 1. A good offense for Steven’s.

7:04 = The two teams are meeting on the field. A competitor is chosen from each team to fight over who gets the ball to start the game. #34 from CNU and #10 from Stevens are chosen. Stevens wins getting the ball. It is noted that CNU’s #10 is Griffin Hanes.

For this live event, I will be watching and blogging the Captain’s go against the Ducks. The type of sport I will be watching is men’s lacrosse, a rather intense sport highly supported here at CNU. Luckily, the game was at our home base, so I didn’t have to walk to far to watch the fight go on! It’s noted that the Ducks are #12 in the nation, while our team, CNU, is #14 in the nation. On that note, I’m sure the scores will be pretty even throughout! I’m excited nonetheless to watch my first lacrosse game, to be honest. Though, it’s very dreary and 7 pm.
